NXP Semiconductors has announced that the newly launched Google Nexus 7 tablet will feature its PN65 NFC solution.
Comprising an NFC radio controller and an embedded Secure Element, the PN65 supports full NFC functionality, enabling the Nexus 7 to perform content sharing via Android Beam and Bluetooth pairing with a simple tap.
The PN65’s embedded secure element also enables the Nexus 7 to support mobile transactions such as payments, transportation and ticketing, physical access and other contactless applications.
According to NXP, the PN65 integrates with the latest release of Android 4.1, Jelly Bean, which includes the same NXP NFC open source software stack already deployed on other Google Nexus smart phones.
