category: NFC, Smart Cards
Tyfone has been awarded two U.S. Patents for its new miniaturized NFC antenna design.
Specifically designed for use in MicroSD cards, the mini antenna works with any smart card secure element, across multiple mobile devices and on any NFC reader without the need for external booster antennas or after-market battery covers.
According to Tyfone, the new design offers the same “yield and cost to manufacture” ratio as standard MicroSD cards, effectively leveling the playing field for NFC-enabled MicroSD cards.
The two U.S. Patents are: US 7,954,716, entitled “Electronic Transaction Card Powered by Mobile Device,” and US 7,961,101, entitled “Small RFID Card With Integrated Inductive Element.”
Tyfone has made these and other MIcroSD patents available for licensing on its website.
