Moneto mobile wallet expands to six Android phones

Moneto, the mobile wallet platform from DeviceFidelity and Springcard, is now available on six Android devices from Samsung, including the Galaxy S i9000, Galaxy S 4G, Vibrant, Fascinate, Mesmerize, Showcase, and Epic 4G.

Also available on the iPhone, moneto uses DeviceFidelity’s NFC-enabled In2Pay microSD technology to provide users with a prepaid account for contactless mobile purchases at the point of sale.


The moneto mobile wallet kit for Android comes with a moneto microSD, an NFC antenna sticker applicator, a prepaid magnetic stripe plastic card for ATM access, and $10 preloaded onto the account.

The app can, which can be downloaded from the Android Market, also comes with a reload feature for adding funds, a locator that lists merchants that accept NFC payments by zip code or current location, and will soon include card to card transfers as well as integrated cash back offers. [end] 

U.K. mobile operator Orange has announced that it will expand its Quick Tap contactless payments service to NFC-enabled Android handsets, according to The Telegraph.

Originally available only on the Samsung Tocco and Samsung Wave 578, Quick Tap lets users make contactless mobile purchases of up to £15 at nearly 70,000 retailers around the U.K., including McDonald’s, Subway and Prêt a Manger.

Chinese handset manufacturer ZTE has partnered with Turkcell, Turkey’s largest mobile operator, to offer a new SIM-based NFC mobile device for the Turkish market.

The Turkcell T11 handset (aka the ZTE Racer II) can be used to pay for both highway toll payments and items at the point of sale with a simple tap against a contactless reader.
