Dolcera publishes first NFC patent repository

Dolcera Corporation has released a patent repository for NFC technology.

According to Dolcera, the new report provides a layout of “essential patents” that enable the use of the NFC technology based on ISO/IEC 14443, ECMA-340 and ECMA-352 standards, as well as the patents that are used to deliver NFC-enabled applications to consumers.

Dolcera’s report also contains hardware related patents that cover the constructional part of the transmitter/receiver antenna or coil involved in NFC communication.

In total, the report contains analysis on more than 1,500 patents relevant to the NFC technology, which are categorized therein as “probably essential,” “application based” and “standards based.”

According to Dolcera, the document also provides an extensive analysis and market appraisal of the commercial opportunities open to players in NFC market.

OTI hits T-Mobile with patent lawsuit over NFC phones

On Track Innovations has filed a lawsuit alleging that T-Mobile USA sells NFC-enabled phones that infringe OTI’s U.S. Patent No. 6,045,043.

The patent in question, “Contact/Contactless Data Transaction Card,” was awarded to OTI back in April 2000 and describes a semiconductor data transaction device “having contact and contactless modes of operation,” according to PTO Direct.

Aware sells patents to Intel for $75 million

In an effort to sell and/or license part of its patent portfolio, Massachusetts-based Aware Inc. has signed an agreement to sell some of its patents and patent applications to Intel Corporation for $75 million.
