Gemalto chooses FIME for GlobalPlatform validation

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

FIME, an independent consulting and market integration testing service, has been selected by digital security provider Gemalto to validate its UICC NFC 2.0 product. The goal is to achieve qualification status by GlobalPlatform, which launched its compliance program earlier this year.

Gemalto is among the first smart card players to align its product with the functional requirements outlined by GlobalPlatform to manage applications on UICC technology.

In becoming GlobalPlatform qualified, Gemalto’s UICC assures those using its product that it has successfully met the required functionality needed to manage applications that reside on the UICC technology in line with GlobalPlatform Card Specification v2.2.

The certification also confirms that the UICC is adaptable and scalable to accommodate multiple applications and can support multiple business models within the mobile services landscape. [end]

The organization has released two new specifications primarily for use by software developers working within the TEE space. The “TEE Systems Architecture v1.0” explains the hardware and software architectures behind the TEE, while the “TEE Internal API Specification v1.0” specifies how to develop trusted applications.
