Monday, November 21, 2011

NXP Semiconductors has announced the launch its new CLRC663 contactless reader IC.

Designed to meet the market need for higher integration, smaller housings and interoperability, the CLRC663 has been designed for use in a variety of infrastructure use cases such as banking, eGovernment, transport and mobile payment.

According to NXP, the IC supports all 13.56-MHz contactless standards and is compatible with all established smart card, smart tag and smart label technologies, including NFC Forum Tag Types and MIFARE products. This ensures interoperability with literally billions of smart cards, electronic documents and NFC-enabled phones based on NXP’s technology.

With the CLRC663, NXP is also introducing a brand new low-power card detection feature that enables the reader terminal to go into sleep mode while still polling for cards, thus saving energy and improving power efficiency. [end]
