Delphi Automotive has unveiled a new NFC-enabled smart key fob at this year’s IAA International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany.
According to Delphi, the new key fob uses NFC technology to provide a ‘constant link’ to vehicle information, allowing the driver to better monitor and manage their vehicles.
For example, a driver could use the fob to remotely check where his or her car is parked, whether it’s locked or unlocked, how much gas is in the tank and what kind of mileage it’s getting, and so on.
Drivers can also use the fob to remotely restore their personal driving settings, including seat position, mirror angles and even the radio station.
Delphi says the smart fob technology will be even more valuable as the market for hybrid and electric vehicles grows, as the fob will grant drivers more control over fuel consumption management.
Delphi will be on hand at IAA 2011 to demonstrate the fob and other connectivity solutions Sept. 17 - 25. ![[end]](/resources/bullet/nfcnews-4.gif)
