Airlines pilot NFC for check in

Airlines are interested in using NFC technology for passenger check-in, according to check-in.aero. In 2009, Air France, Amadeus and IER partnered with Nice Côte d’Azur Airport to test NFC technology.
Members of the airport’s Club Airport Premier passenger program and the airline’s frequent flyer program travelling between Nice and Paris Orly piloted Pass and Fly – an NFC-based boarding pass.
The project was trying to establish whether passenger boarding could be simplified through the use of the wireless technology. Amadeus developed the application for mobile phones and worked with others on the NFC readers.
