GlobalPlatform, AFSCM pool resources

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

GlobalPlatform, an international body for smart card infrastructure development, has entered into a Contribution Agreement with Association Française pour le ‘Sans Contact’ Mobile (AFSCM), an organization aimed at promoting the technical development of NFC and contactless mobile services.

As part of the agreement, AFSCM, who contributed the Nice NFC project, will provide its business processes and end-to-end system architecture to GlobalPlatform for integration into its specifications, which will allow greater global access to AFSCM case materials and assist the advancement of the NFC ecosystem worldwide.

GlobalPlatform is enhancing its messaging technology to support the AFSCM’s contactless system architecture and related data exchanges for application deployment. As NFC technology evolves, and future advancements are required, the two bodies will continue to combine technical expertise to synchronize developments and adaptations, says Global Platform.

Gil Bernabeu, GlobalPlatform Technical Director, comments: “AFSCM has been instrumental in driving the advances of contactless technology within the French marketplace. In addition to creating a forum to enable the technology to be brought to market effectively and developing the materials to educate consumers, it has ensured service interoperability by promoting common specifications.” [end]

GlobalPlatform announced that it will hold a two-day card specification training session March 1-2 at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas.

Directly preceding CARTES North America 2012 (March 5-7, Las Vegas), the training session will aim to educate CARTES delegates and other participants on the importance of GlobalPlatform Specifications, their capabilities and functionality.
