First Data, INSIDE Contactless launch PayPass mobile payment tag

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

First Data Corporation and INSIDE Contactless announced the introduction of a new MasterCard PayPass contactless payment tag.

Based on INSIDE’s MicroPass payment platform, the MasterCard PayPass mobile payment tag offers an economical solution for contactless mobile payment. Users simply attach the tag to their mobile phone to give it all the functionality of a traditional credit or debit card.

The new tag features a special shielding design to protect the interior chip and antenna from interference caused by the mobile handset, as well as a new adhesive backing that lets the tag adhere to mobile phones better while allowing the sticker to be removed and reapplied without losing its grip.

CPI Card Group has been approved by First Data to produce the new tag, and has already established a scalable operational process using core MicroPass technology. [end]

CPI Card Group and INSIDE Contactless have introduced a next-generation tag that enables mobile devices to make MasterCard PayPass and Discover Zip contactless payments.

The stickers, which are manufactured by CPI and based on INSIDE’s MicroPass 4003 contactless payment processor, contain all the functionality of traditional MasterCard PayPass and Discover Zip credit, debit or prepaid debit cards.
