AIRTAG launches NFC Portal Application in Nice

Thursday, June 3, 2010

AIRTAG has announced the launch of its “NFC Portal Application” in Nice, France.

The application, deployed by NRJ mobile through its contactless CITYZI system, enables Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to offer a user friendly NFC portal where it is possible to add, remove and manage what AIRTAG calls “Services Widgets.”

Once embedded in the phone, the application automatically connects to the secure element to display a list of available and active Widgets, which provide services such as contactless mobile payment, electronic transportation passes and loyalty rewards programs.

The new application features an animated tutorial of the service, as well as an interactive Widget display that allows users to add, remove or rearrange programs and enable or disable the NFC functionality of the phone.

AIRTAG says the app can work on all NFC phones on the market for any mobile carrier and will soon be available on other OS environments, including Android. [end]
