Advanced Card Systems unveils new line of NFC readers

Advanced Card Systems Ltd., an Asia Pacific supplier of PC-linked smart card readers, will unveil its new ACR122 Series of NFC Contactless Readers at the Cards Asia 2010 conference.

In addition to NFC mobile payment, the readers support CEPAS, Singapore’s specification for electronic money smart cards being used for public transportation and micro-payment at retails shops, vending machines and more.

The new line of readers also includes the ACR122U, which can be used by CEPAS card holders at home for checking their card balances and doing online shopping. [end]

Survey: Germans coming around to NFC, contactless payments

A new survey from Euro Kartensysteme shows that Germans are starting to embrace the idea of contactless and NFC payments.

Out of 1,040 Germans aged 18-59, 43% responded that they would like to make contactless payments if given the opportunity, of which 58% percent would make their payments with a debit card card, 41% with a credit card and 50% with an NFC phone.
