Report: NFC will lead mobile payments market

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

Bharat Book has released a new report forecasting NFC applications and markets for 2009-2014.

The report, titled “Near Field Communications - the future of m-payments,” analyzes NFC technology at three stages: the development and standardization process that NFC has undergone since its inception in the market, the current NFC market status (where the technology stands now including its applications and markets) and its future growth trends (where the industry sees NFC in the next five years).

According to the report, NFC technology will be the leading mobile payments market in the future, despite the current lack of availability of the required infrastructure (i.e. NFC mobile phones).

However, Bharat Book found that barriers are coming down. Since 2007, a number of related contactless development institutions and bodies have developed specifications and protocols for companies incorporate their solutions into the NFC ecosystem.

The 100+ page report highlights these developments at two separate stages, giving an outline of the major industrial projects, trials and consumers surveys, as well as the month-to-month latest developments on the NFC in the years 2008 and 2009.
