BancABC taps Bell ID for EMV

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Bell ID announced that it will be providing its smart card management software to the retail division bank of BancABC to secure, manage and personalize its Visa EMV cards in all five sub-Saharan operating countries.

With the implementation of ANDiS4EMV, Bell ID’s software solution for smart card management in the financial sector, BancABC has deployed a system that covers processes and security for the issuance of EMV banking smart cards. The system will be implemented at the Bank’s data center in Sandton, Johannesburg in South Africa and will serve the bank’s operations throughout Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Bell ID’s ANDiS4EMV solution is made up of of a Web-based multi-application card management and key management system with on-board EMV data preparation. The flexibility of the GlobalPlatform compliant system enables configurations for multiple card issuers with different card application and chip technology requirements.

BancABC – that is listed in both Botswana and Zimbabwe – will initially use ANDiS4EMV to perform central issuance of Visa EMV credit, debit and prepaid cards for all the five operating countries using South African personalization bureau. For subsequent phases, the ANDiS Instant Issuance solution offers the capability of distributing personalization services across various locations in the regions, depending on the changing and increasing demands for its card products.

Further options include the issuance of multi-application cards, post-issuance personalization, for example loading of added value card applications, NFC payments and dynamic EMV risk management on cards. [end]
