Green Hills Software, Stollmann unveil Bluetooth, NFC solutions

Green Hills Software, a Santa Barbara, Calif.-based producer of secure operating systems, has partnered with Hamburg, Germany-based Stollmann E+V, a developer of communication protocol software, to supply Bluetooth and NFC solutions.

First out of the gate will be an NFC profile for the INTEGRITY real-time operating system that will provide support for NFC-enabled devices in contactless secure access and mobile payment applications.


In addition to the NFC profile, Green Hills and Stollmann are also cooperating on a Bluetooth health device for INTEGRITY that will enable developers of medical applications to design in line with the standards of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, ensuring interoperability with other medical devices worldwide.

Bluetooth profiles define how different applications use Bluetooth wireless technology to set up a connection and exchange data. The Bluetooth health device profile was developed to ensure that devices used in medical, health and fitness applications can transfer data between devices in a secure way. [end] 

DigitalPersona announced the release of a new version of its Pro Enterprise software solution, version 5.2.

Among the aspects of the new version DigitalPersona is touting are the extensive number of factors a company utilizing the solution can use to authenticate for access to sensitive information or secured computer stations. These factors include what a user knows, such as PINs or passwords, things you have, such as smart cards, contactless identity cards or Bluetooth devices, and things you are, such as fingerprints.

According to the partners, NFC can allow two Bluetooth devices to pair by simply touching them together, thus eliminating the need for user input and making the process quicker, easier and more bug-proof.

NFC software provider Stollmann has announced a partnership with Harman, a global audio and infotainment group, to deliver NFC capabilities to the auto industry.

According to Stollman, the partners will collaborate on a solution to connect the driver’s cell phone with in-vehicle components via Bluetooth and ‘NFC hotspots.’
