NSIDE Contactless and Kyocera Wireless join forces on NFC integration

Kyocera Wireless Corp. (KWC), a global manufacturer of CDMA wireless phones and devices, and INSIDE Contactless announced a global collaboration to integrate INSIDE Contactless’ cutting-edge NFC solution for mobile payments in select prototype Kyocera mobile phones. As part of the collaboration, KWC will build NFC-enabled prototype mobile phones enhanced with INSIDE’s microread®, allowing the technology to be used in various banking pilot projects and initial adoption globally.

San Diego and Aix en Provence, France, October 30th, 2007 – Kyocera Wireless Corp. (KWC), a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless phones and devices, and INSIDE Contactless, a world leader for Near Field Communication (NFC) technologies and other contactless payments solutions, today announced a global collaboration to integrate INSIDE Contactless’ cutting-edge NFC solution for mobile payments in select prototype Kyocera mobile phones.

The agreement may eventually allow KWC to offer unique services to global carriers and content providers and further the acceptance of mobile payment platforms.

As part of the collaboration, KWC will build NFC-enabled prototype mobile phones enhanced with INSIDE’s microread®, allowing the technology to be used in various banking pilot projects and initial adoption globally.

Innovision Research & Technology has made version two of its GEM NFC semiconductor technology available for licensing.

GEM 2 is designed to enable NFC devices and global NFC interoperability with existing and emerging standards for contactless payment, mass transit ticketing, access control and smart objects, including ISO/IEC 18092, 21481, 14443A&B, and 15693.

China’s GYRFID has announced the release of its new ISO14443A Mifare 1K/ Mifare 4K/ Mifare Ultralight multi-function contactless card.

The 13.56Mhz, 512bit contactless card is suitable for public transportation, payment systems, logistics, e-ticketing and more, according to GYRFID, and measures 86mm by 54mm, with a thickness of 0.84mm.
